Tests needed to start the program:

  • Current physical examination appropriate for a diet program
  • Normal pap smear within the last 6 months
  • Normal mammogram (if of screening age) within the last 6 months
  • Normal blood pressure
  • Normal blood work including a Complete Blood Count, Comprehensive Metabolic Panel, and Thyroid Stimulating Hormone

If you have an existing problem you must be under control of medication and be approved by your physician or Dr. Courson prior to beginning the program.

Before you begin the hCG program, we want to give you some background information about HCG and its ability to aid in weight loss.

Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), discovered 50 years ago, is a hormone naturally produced by the placenta during pregnancy. HCG signals the brain to mobilize fat stores which gives the fetus fuel to grow. When taken along with a low-calorie diet, hCG mobilizes fat stores in men and women to burn up to 1 pound of fat per day. This approach has since been used throughout the world to help people lose weight quickly and effectively.

HCG has traditionally been offered only as an injection but now, due to advanced research and technology, can be administered daily via a nasal spray. We are excited to offer this diet which combines the ground-breaking low calorie diet with the known benefits of hCG. We can now offer a monitored weight loss program designed to allow you to lose ½ to 1 pound per day safely, effectively, and conveniently while under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional.

To understand how the program works you must focus less on genetics and metabolic rates and look deeper into brain function. The hypothalamus, located in your brain, is the connecting link between the nervous system and all of your hormones. It is also the hunger center of the body. Our hCG diet focuses on “fooling” the hypothalamus. This resets your fat thermometer and decreases hunger and food cravings. This allows you to burn up to 3500 calories or 1 pound per day. This rate of loss depends on your making the best possible choices while paying close attention to everything you eat and drink. Success depends on you staying true to the program!

While on the hCG diet, patients report they feel great and have more energy while losing weight. Though this is somewhat of a paradox, it is a well-established survival instinct for the human body to shift into a hyper catabolic like state when placed under extreme duress. Success Strategies for hCG

HCG is designed to allow you to lose ½ to 1 pound per day. This fantastic rate of loss depends on you making the wisest possible choices, paying close attention to everything you eat and drink and staying true to your program. While on the program clients report they feel great, have increased energy, and lose weight. We want you to maximize your success. The tips below will help.

  • Do not change or substitute foods. The foods selected on your menu are designed to provide you with the maximum weight loss without hunger. No fat or other calories should be added to the plan. Adding fat will increase your hunger and slow down your weight loss.
  • No alcohol is allowed on the program.
    Chewing gum can increase hunger by stirring up your gastric juices.
  • Consume only the calories listed on your menu. Using the calorie counts provided and keeping an accurate food sheet will help greatly.
  • DO NOT ADD SUGAR! Use artificial sweeteners such as Stevia or Splenda as needed.
  • Avoid using heavy oils on your skin such as baby oil, tanning oil, and lotion.

Supplemental Medications

Lipovite Injections (weekly)

  • Multivitamin
  • Appetite suppressants
    • In most cases on this diet, significant hunger only lasts a couple of days at the beginning. The hunger then subsides naturally. Because the diet is very low calorie, some patients feel they need an appetite suppressant.
  • Magnesium
    • Use Milk of Magnesia if needed for constipation- 30cc at bedtime

Day by Day

Days 1 and 2:

  • Take the hCG as directed. Eat foods high in fat.
  • It’s important to get the hCG and fat into your system before you start the weight loss menu.
  • Failure to eat meals high in fats on days 1 and 2 will results in marked hunger when you begin the menu.

Day 3 and on:

  • Continue hCG as directed, following the hCG menu.
  • Complete the 42-day cycle or 21-cycle without interruption.
  • Should you need more than 1 cycle of hCG, you will need to take a 4 week hCG break between cycles. During this time we encourage you to do the standard maintenance diet which includes our injections as well as appetite suppressants.
  • If needed you may begin another hCG cycle at this point (you may do a total of 3 hCG cycles as long as you take the appropriate weeks between cycles.)
  • If more than 3 hCG cycles are needed there must be a 4 month hiatus in between the third and fourth cycles.

When you reach your goal weight: (Note: everyone must complete the first 42-day or 21-day cycle without stopping)

  • Stop hCG
  • Continue the hCG weight loss menu for 2 additional days, without your hCG medication

The following 3 weeks:

  • Follow the hCG maintenance menus for 3 weeks
  • During this time the menu will direct you to increase your fat and protein, while keeping carbohydrates and starches restricted.
  • Continue to weigh-in daily and keep your food sheet.

HCG Menu


  • Days 1 and 2 are “load days.” You begin this menu on day 3.
  • Eat 750 calories per day from the food listed below. Calorie guidelines are also provided to help you determine your daily intake.
  • Eat all food servings below. Do not skip any food servings.
  • Drink at least 64 ounces of water per day. 2 glasses before each meal is best.
  • You may have 1 Tbsp. milk daily.
  • Visit us weekly and bring your food journal.


  • Fruit
    Apple, Orange, Strawberries (6 large), ½ grapefruit, cantaloupe (1 cup), other berries (1/2 cup), Coffee, Tea, or any other zero-calorie fluids

Lunch: (may use zero calorie salad dressings such as Walden Farms Salad Dressing)>

  • Protein 3.5 oz
  • Vegetables 3.5 oz raw
  • Melba Toast 1 slice
  • Coffee, tea, or any other zero-calorie fluids

Dinner: (may use zero calorie salad dressings such as Walden Farms Salad Dressing)

  • Protein 3.5 oz
  • Vegetables 3.5 oz raw
  • Melba Toast 1 slice
  • Coffee, tea, or any other zero-calorie fluids
  • Dessert: 1 cup cottage cheese (fat free) or 1 cup fat free yogurt with 1 serving of fruit, or ½ cup low fat vanilla ice cream
